These are the most recent sightings sent to us by members and the public. If you would like to log a sighting of any flora or fauna in the Toodyay area, please click the link provided. You must enter your name for for us to verify your sighting, and contact details at the end of your notes, as we may need to get more details from you.
The following information would be useful, if at all possible.
1) time of day?
2) weather conditions?
3) landscape eg: road verge, scrubland, breakaway country, high or low in a tree, etc, ?
4) what the creature was doing at the time of the sighting?
5) approximate size?
6) gender (if possible)?
7) colouration?
8) photographed?
9) any other interesting observation/s at the time of sighting?
10) for plants, the surrounding growth, number of plants and their general condition, is it a wetland?

Please try and limit the number of characters you enter to 100. A photograph will be a great advantage in identification of those hard to categorise animals or plants

2222 04-10-2017 Toodyay Rd Just East of Roland Rd Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) Carnaby with Red tail, only 1 bird seen in flight going to land on top of tall tree. Thick cloud,no sun,strong easterly wind 1000 hours.
2223 21-11-2017 Drummondi Drive, Toodyay Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) Sighted by resident, Ken Stivey, up to 50 birds feeding on ? Dryandra on his bush property. No Photograph.
2224 26-11-2017 Jubilee Street, Toodyay Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) Photographed - Five birds came in two days in succession and stripped the large apricot tree of fruit. Observation from Shelley Kingston of that address.
2225 26-12-2017 Sandplain Road, near Toodyay Road Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) Large flock Carnabys flying overhead. Approx 30 birds. 5.45AM
2226 17-04-2018 Stirlingia Drive, Toodyay Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) First sighting in months
2227 23-06-2018 Bindoon-Dewars Pool Rd Toodyay Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) Small Group of Carnabys Cockatoos. Numbers not confirmed as I only identified them by their calls.
2228 21-07-2018 Julimar Road less than a kilometre from town Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) 8 or 9 flying very low almost along the road, heading west. Late morning.
2229 15-07-2018 Wandoo Circle Toodyay Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) 9/10 birds about 5PM Very noisy in top of a tall wandoo tree
2230 12-08-2018 Wilkerson Rd West Toodyay Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) A pair at the top of an old wandoo. They were calling and fanning their tails and bobbing up and down. I only see them occasionally and usually just flying over the property.
2231 24-08-2018 Coondle Toodyay Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) 3pm - Shaun from the Coondle area phoned re 11 birds feeding on ......nuts. Shaun talked about the great number of species of birds that he has on his property. He has had the Cockatoos coming around the same time annually for a number of years.
2232 10-08-2018 Northam Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) Just Northam side of Egoline rail crossing in dead tree on left heading to Northam about 20 birds on branches. A clear cool morning.
2233 09-12-2013 12 Drummond Street, Toodyay Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) At 9.30am, saw 3 pairs and a fledgling.
2234 28-03-2019 65 Wandoo Circle Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) Approximately 50 flew east up the valley between Wandoo Circle and Toodyay Road this morning.
2235 18-05-2019 Toodyay Road Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) Cnr Racecourse Road - over fifty Carnaby's feeding in the paddock.
2236 22-06-2019 Cnr Sandplain Road and Wandoo Circle Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) Flock of about 15 birds on the floor feeding on marri gum nuts

2239 19-10-2019 Dewars Pool Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) The red tail black cockatoos are slowly leaving the area, the young ones must be now big and strong enough to fly to the coast, but Carnabys are now taking over
2240 16-05-2020 65 Wandoo Circle Black Cockatoo, White-tailed (Carnaby's) Since 12/03/2020 both Baudin and Carnaby cockatoos (identified by the beak patterns on Marri nuts and photographs) have been flying through, stopping to feed, perch or drink from our water bowls. Seeing groups of 25-30, and smaller, consisting of both males and females. Latest sighting today of about 10. Not known if groups are mixed Carnabys and Baudins.
