These are the most recent sightings sent to us by members and the public.
If you would like to log a sighting of any flora or fauna in the Toodyay area, please click the link provided. Please enter your name for for us to verify your sighting,and contact details at the end of your notes, as we may need to get more details from you.
You do not have to be a member.
The following information would be useful, if at all possible.
1) time of day?
2) weather conditions?
3) landscape eg: road verge, scrubland, breakaway country, high or low in a tree, etc, ?
4) what the creature was doing at the time of the sighting?
5) approximate size?
6) gender (if possible)?
7) colouration?
8) photographed?
9) any other interesting observation/s at the time of sighting?
10) for plants, the surrounding growth, number of plants and their general condition, is it a wetland?

Please try and limit the number of characters you enter to 100. A photograph will be a great advantage in identification of those hard to categorise animals or plants

2 03-12-2022 Racecourse Road, Toodyay Eagle, Wedge-tailed 9.45am - 2 birds flying in circles over the railway crossing area.
3 02-12-2022 Avon River, Toodyay townsite Pelican, Australian 6.45pm - Three Australian Pelicans flew over the township on two occasions.
4 27-11-2022 Stirlingia Drive, Majestic Heights Monitor, Black-tailed (Varanus tristis tristis) On roof of house and over kitchen window
5 26-11-2022 Stirlingia Drive, Majestic Heights Pine-leaved Goodenia (Goodenia pinifolia) Growing behind house in clay. Small white flowers with smaller reddish-brown bracts or sheaths. Look quite showy. Photographed.

8 13-11-2022 Stirlingia Drive, Majestic Heights Skink, Shingleback; Skink, Bobtail; Tiliqua rugusa rugosa Warming up (but only during the day) has brought two bobtails out - together. Photographed

11 06-11-2022 Avon River, Toodyay townsite Cormorant, Little Pied Single bird, stretching it's wings near the waters edge
12 05-11-2022 Wandoo Circle, Vernon Hills Sittella, Varied A group of 4/5 birds flitting from around large wandoo tree about 3.30PM
13 04-11-2022 Wandoo Circle, Vernon Hills Monitor, Gould's (Varanus gouldii) Sighted at 10.45, slowly crossing the road, only moved quickly when I got out of the car to take a photo.
14 04-11-2022 Wandoo Circle, Vernon Hills Lizard, Burtons Legless (Lialis burtonis) 6.45PM Moving slowly across the path Very pale in colour, no visible markings
15 01-11-2022 Glencoe Estate, Toodyay. Cuckoo-shrike, Black-faced First around 16th October feasting on mulberries on a 2 metre high tree; about 6 birds. Left about 22nd October. Not observed before. No photograph. Wayne Fletcher
16 01-11-2022 Long Forest Road, Goomalling Gwardar, Western Brown Snake (Pseudonaja nuchalis) Gwardar,a long thinish animal sighted on a private property moving rapidly into shrubbery. It had a herringbone patterning.Photographed.
